The production process of silicone flip mold usually includes the following key steps:
Prepare materials: You need to prepare tools and materials such as the original object (i.e. prototype), silicone molding rubber, mixing bowl and stirring stick, release agent, plastic container, and material to support the shell (such as plaster or fiberglass).
Design the mold: Design the parting surface of the mold according to the shape and size of the prototype, which facilitates subsequent mold disassembly and product removal.
Prototype processing: Apply release agent to the surface of the prototype so that the silicone mold can be demoulded smoothly while ensuring that the surface of the prototype is not damaged.
Make the mold frame: Place the prototype in a plastic container and build the mold frame around the prototype. The mold frame needs to be fixed and well-sealed to prevent silicone leakage.
Mix silica gel: Mix silica gel and curing agent according to the proportion, and use a stirring rod to stir thoroughly to ensure that the mixture is even and bubble-free.
Inject silicone: Slowly pour the mixed silicone into the mold frame to cover the prototype. If necessary, the mold frame can be vibrated to help release air bubbles.
Curing and demoulding: After the silicone is completely cured, cut the mold along the pre-designed parting surface, then take out the prototype to form a mold cavity.
Pouring and production: Open the gate and exhaust port on the mold, then perform vacuum pouring, inject the ingredients into the mold cavity, and take out the parts after solidification.
Post-processing: perform local processing and surface polishing on the product to ensure the quality of the final product.
In general, after the above steps are completed, high-precision replicas can be obtained. This process is suitable for small-batch prototype product production or rapid prototype development. In addition, throughout the production process, attention needs to be paid to operational accuracy and detail processing to ensure the quality of the mold and finished product.
